What Not To Do To Your Healing Piercing

The Following Is Heavily Advised:

  • Do not rotate, move, pick at, scratch, or disturb your piercing.
  • Do not change your own jewelry for 6 months to a year minimum, sometimes longer. Wait until your piercing is fully healed, ask your piercer if you‘re unsure.
  • Do not wear low-grade body jewelry. You should not wear anything less than implant grade metals. "Surgical Stainless Steel" is NOT implant grade.  Most people’s piercings struggle to heal with anything low quality.
  • Do not engage in activities that can increase your chances of health risks, or increases your chances of causing trauma to your healing body piercing.
  • Do not take advice from friends, family, coworkers, or unreliable internet sources. Ask a professional!

Products To Avoid

  • Do not use rubbing Alcohol
  • Do not use hydrogen Peroxide
  • Do not use a homemade solution made of salt and water.
  • Do not use antibacterial soaps and cleansers.
  • Do not use dial and other soaps containing Triclosan. Avoid soaps of any kind.
  • Do not use essential Oils, or oils of any kind.
  • Do not use ointments of any kind.
  • Do not use betadine.
  • Do not use hibiciens.
  • Do not use mouthwash containing alcohol.
  • Do not use products containing Benzalkonium Chloride (BZK) such as; Claire's ear care solution, Bactine, or Epsom salt.
  • Do not use anything other than what is recommended in questions one and two, unless prescribed to by a medical professional.

Oral Piercings: What To Avoid

  • Do not bite, spin, or click your jewelry against your teeth or gums, this will damage your oral anatomy terribly. It is also important to have your initial piercing jewelry downsized to avoid the same damage.
  • Do not share food, drinks, plates, cups, straws, eating utensils, cigarettes/cigars, joints/blunts, and other paraphernalia used for smoking/inhaling vapor which will be touched to the mouth, or other mucous membranes while the piercing is crusting. Clean objects thoroughly between uses.
  • Do not chew or suck on objects that are not meant for consumption such as; pens, pencils, paintbrush handles, necklaces or other jewelry, sunglasses, fingernails/toenails, or other objects.
  • Do not drink liquids and eat foods that are excessively hot, spicy, salty, sharp/crunchy, or otherwise irritating to the mouth, while the piercing is crusting.
  • Do Not use tooth & gum care products containing alcohols or peroxides
